In this Iranian contemporary visual arts which is under the
domination of the narrative arts, with lots of empty claims,
visiting Maryam Ashkanian’s works is a trigger to go back and
rediscover the real sense of arts. In literary texts everything
is written consciously, but in painting the process of decoding
is done intuitively that is certainly more pleasurable.
Maryam’s works indicate the real life. She delicately tries to
allow the audience to have their own interpretation. She is so
concerned to create nostalgic and joyful moments in her
paintings.
The moments which represent our past memories and celebrations
.In fact she has contributed a great chance to refresh those
glorious moments; the ones that probably we all have forgotten
them but they still exist genuinely.
All the elements used in her paintings are the result of a
feminine patience, based upon a masculine ground.
Men and women play a major role in her art. Women are portrayed
symbolically and men are depicted abstractly.
The artist in her artworks respects the viewer’s intelligence
and understanding so much. She doesn’t transfer the messages
directly via the work of arts
Art is the best common awareness among human beings. And is the
only universal language that has linked things to each other.
Maryam Ashkanian is attempting to construct her own world by her
unique language.
It is obvious that just in the future she would be judged about
the validity of her artistic language, rightfully.
